Shafique is currently working as the Regional Behaviour Change Communication Specialist with Malaria Consortium Asia and based in Bangkok, Thailand. He possesses master degree in Sociology and has over 18 years of experience in designing and implementing innovative behavior change communication strategies for variety of health issues in South and South East Asia.
Shafique provides technical support to the national malaria control programmes and partners in Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar and Lao PDR in developing, monitoring and evaluating culturally appropriate and harmonized behavior change communication (BCC) strategies and materials for the hard to reach populations.
Shafique has applied ‘Positive Deviance’ approach on maternal and newborn health, polio eradication, malaria prevention and dengue control programmes in Pakistan, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar. He has also involved in the capacity building of National Programmes and partners on positive deviance, behaviour change communication, community mobilization and qualitative research in the Greater Mekong Sub-region.
Shafique is very fortunate to work closely with and coached by Monique Sternin in the PD applications on maternal and newborn health and polio eradication in Pakistan.
